WHY I
WANT TO BE YOUR NEXT SHERIFF
I
am not a professional politician. I have never
run for public office. I am referred to as an
“outsider”. All of these statements are true.
What
I am is a professional Law Enforcement Officer
with over 25 years of public service. I have
dedicated my life to this profession. I have
more experience in this field than any candidate
seeking the office of Sheriff. Being extensively
trained by the leading law enforcement agencies
in this country, I have investigated crimes from
the initial notification to the final
prosecution phase. I have been a Patrol Division
Supervisor in an area with an approximate
population of 100,000 people. I created and
supervised a Juvenile Investigations Bureau
within the Criminal Investigations Division of
the Evesham Township Police Department, Marlton,
NJ. During my last two years of service, I was a
Traffic Bureau Supervisor charged with
investigating fatal motor vehicle accidents
When elected, I do not intend to solely be an
administrator. I am fully prepared to take an
active role in protecting the citizens of
Summers County.
I currently possess an Associate Degree in
Science, majoring in Law Enforcement and
Administration, Criminal Justice. I successfully
put myself through night school while working
full time as a police officer. I feel this shows
the determination and dedication I have for my
profession.
The name “outsider” is unfair to say the least.
While it is true that I was not born in
West Virginia, my wife of 39 years, Judi, was.
Her parents and several family members all
reside within Summers County. When I graduated
from high school, I chose W.V.I.T. (WV Tech) as
my college of choice. I was seventeen years old.
I chose WV Tech over other schools because I
wanted to live in West Virginia. I have been
coming to West Virginia since I was a child to
visit family in Parkersburg. My uncle, John
Dolphin was a Sheriffs Deputy for the Wood
County Sheriffs Department after his retirement
from the Marine Corps. His son, Glenn, is a
graduate of W.V.U. and served as a Marine Corps
Captain prior to becoming a Special Agent with
the FBI.
I have spent all my spare time coming to West
Virginia since my marriage to Judi almost 40
years ago. During this time, I made the easy
decision to purchase property and call Summers
County my home. If I am still considered an
“outsider”, I cannot defend that. I am fortunate
enough to know I live here by choice. The people
of Summers County have always been friendly and
supportive towards my family and me. I feel now
is the time for me to do something to thank
them. Please vote for me so I can continue to
work for the people of Summers County.
